Obituary

Cobyn was born February 13, 2005 to a very loving family. Doctors told his family he would only be on Earth seven to ten days. During the first week Cobyn spent time with his family, went to Monterey to meet his uncle, was baptized, and dedicated to the Lord. Cobyn made it past the first week! The first year was full of meeting new people, going to the Central Coast, San Francisco, Yosemite, and Disneyland for Christmas. Since his birth people were encouraged to meet Cobyn, and he was to go on many vacations. His Mama and Daddy took him everywhere they went. Cobyn enjoyed Disneyland, but probably not as much as his Mama and Daddy loved to see his expressions on the amusements. This past Christmas Cobyn went to Disneyland for his eleventh trip. He went every Christmas and every birthday! Cobyn's parents began collecting items for him; Mickey Mouse Ears, t-shirts, pins, and pressed coins. Cobyn would often roll his eyes while his Mama and Daddy collected the pressed coins, as to say, "My parents are so old". Cobyn received a stuffed animal from his Mama and Daddy for his 3rd birthday. While we were at Disneyland we found Eeyore. Cobyn slept and traveled everywhere with him. There wasn't one night Cobyn didn't have his arms wrapped around Eeyore. Going to the beach was another popular destination. Whether he went to the Central Coast to see the elephant seals or dine with Mama and Daddy at many restaurants. Once after seeing his neurosurgeon at UCLA, we went to Venice Beach. The three of us sat on the beach, his Daddy reading a book and he and Mama watching the airplanes. The airplanes were departing from LAX and we would sit there and guess where they were going. The past year Cobyn traveled to Dodger games, a UCLA football game, concerts, Mammoth Lakes, and Shaver Lake. He went fishing for the first time, with his own special pole. While in Mammoth he saw snow for the first time, and hiked five miles to see waterfall. He went to two Dodger games, the first time he had his name in lights and was even on the Jumbo Tron. Unfortunately, UCLA lost to Fresno State. Although we told him UCLA won, Cobyn was still upset because he knew better. Cobyn enjoyed wearing a life-vest and having the water mist spraying his face while boating on Shaver Lake. Cobyn was doing well at his occupational and physical therapies; meeting goals set by his therapist. He also enjoyed going to swim therapy; he would float and kick his legs. Cobyn was his parents' best friend. He and his daddy loved watching ESPN and any other sporting events on television. He even got his own remote for Christmas. Cobyn enjoyed listening to his Mama read; whether it was a book, magazine, newspaper or instructions to a new toy. Cobyn enjoyed going out to eat with his parents. When he was young we knew it was a good restaurant if Cobyn would sleep through all the noise and commotion as we ate. Recently, he liked to sit in his Mama's lap at the table. He really liked going on car rides. It didn't matter if we were going around town, to Bakersfield or hours away. Two of his uncles were married during his lifetime. At eighteen-months old, Cobyn was a groomsman in his Uncle Tim and Aunt Vanessa's wedding. Cobyn looked so cute in his black tuxedo with the G-unit shoes his uncle and aunt bought for his birthday. When his Uncle Jarrod and Aunt Leslie married this past July, Cobyn was the ring bearer. His Mama carried him down the aisle, he in his black tuxedo with tails and big boy shoes. He loved and adored his aunts and uncles. Cobyn's grandparents played a very important role in his life. His Papi and Grandpa Vic were the best sleeping partners a boy could have. As soon as he got into his Papi's arms he would relax and fall asleep. Christmas night Cobyn and his Papi fell asleep right in the middle of opening a gift. Cobyn and Grandpa Vic tired after eating dinner would go to sleep. He brought love and joy to his Nani and Grandma Pris. He made their hearts smile! Cobyn touched many lives from his great-grandparents to his honorary uncles and aunts. Cobyn will always have a place in our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers. We love you son.
