Services: Wednesday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held graveside at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Shafter Cemetery located at 18662 Santa Fe Way. A luncheon will follow at Grace Lutheran Church at 2530 Drake Street in Bakersfield. Clara Schnabel Jackson was born April 18, 1926 in Emery, South Dakota and was the daughter of Jacob and Lydia Schnabel. She was baptized as an infant in the Reformed Church and attended school in South Dakota until she completed high school. Clara moved to Kern County in 1937 with her sister, Vera Dormaier and her family. On February 23, 1951, Clara married Elmer (Jack) Jackson, a marriage that was blessed them with a total of 44 years together before Elmer's death in 1995. Clara was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and remained a member until her death. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, and three siblings, Reinhold, Martha, and Vera. She is survived by one sister, Bertha Gottfried of Colorado. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday evening from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
