Christopher Joseph Johnson was born February 28, 1978 in Bakersfield, California to Johnathan and Mary (Wankum) Johnson. A life-long resident of Bakersfield he attended Horace Mann Elementary School, Compton Jr. High and graduated from East High School with the class of 1996. In his youth he attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he received his First Communion. He married McKenzi McCord June 2, 2001 and they have continued to make Bakersfield their home. Christopher loved singing and music, writing songs and jamming. Snakes, of all kinds, were his hobby and but he especially liked the Rosy Boas and the Rubber Boas. In his spare time he liked to go fishing with family and friends. He had been employed at Homebase, Wal-Mart and Rite Aid. Christopher is survived by his wife, McKenzi; sons, McCord and Draven; parents, Wes and Mary Johnson; brothers, Randy Johnson and wife Tania of Bakersfield, Tim Johnson and wife Charlene of Georgia; sisters, Laura Kenny and husband Mike of Bakersfield, Karen Baker and husband Eddie of Fountain Valley, Susie Bittle and husband Jim, Katie Johnson, all of Bakersfield; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Johnson. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of the Christian Burial were held at Christ the King Catholic Church under the direction of Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary. Msgr. Steven Frost officiated the services and interment will be private at Greenlawn River Blvd.
