IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine A.
Flores
October 7, 1942 – August 26, 2014
Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10:00 at St. Theresa's Church, 300 Lerdo, Hwy. Shafter for Christine Alvear Flores, who has joined her son Timothy and nephew Christopher in God's presence on Monday, August 18. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 52 years Luis Flores of Shafter, children Herberto Flores of Bakersfield and Patricia Cruz of San Mateo, brother Bert Alvear and sisters Katie Hernandez and Socorro Mendez of Bakersfield and Sophia Cantu of Mexico, and five grandsons, whose hearts will forever be filled with the love of their Mima - Mark and Steven Flores of Bakersfield, and Timoteo, Antonio, and Alejandro Cruz of San Mateo. Christine was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico on October 7, 1942, and moved to Shafter at the age of five. Her life was filled with her kids and grandkids, as well as a 48 year career as a cosmetologist in Shafter. She was an avid bingo player, complete with an arsenal of cupie dolls, loved the Price is Right, and is widely renowned for the world's best mexican rice and bunuellos. But mostly, she was about family, and was the central force in ensuring that everyone was welcomed, all were fed, each family milestone acknowledged, and all grand babies possessed clean finger nails and brushed teeth. She lived her life selflessly and full of grace and her friends and family are blessed to have had her in their lives. Flowers can be delivered to Peters Mortuary or In lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charitable organization in Christine's name.
