A graveside funeral service under the direction of Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, Bakersfield will be held at 2 pm on Friday, November 17, 2006, at Union Cemetery for Etha Christie Combs, age 90, of Bakersfield who passed away November 11, 2006, in Bakersfield. Interment immediately following. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 16, 2006 from 2 pm – 8 pm and Friday, November 17, 2006 from 9 am to 12 noon at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon St., Bakersfield. Please sign Mrs. Combs' guestbook at www.clarmar.com. Mrs. Combs was born June 4, 1916 in Taber, Alberta, Canada to Chris and Beatrice Lee. The family moved to Utah when she was 12 years old and she met and married Otto Combs. They moved to California living in El Segundo before moving to Bakersfield where Christie has lived for the last 61 years. Christie was a talented and gifted seamstress, who specialized in making wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She is survived by her son, Edwin E. Combs & wife Linda of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Dennis Combs & wife Heidi and Jill Combs; and special caretaker and friend, Charlotte Zozayn. Her husband, parents and siblings preceded her in death; she was the last of 10 children. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Gilli and his staff for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Combs. Also a warm thank you to special friends Melvin and Willa Mae McDowell.
