Charles Patrick Wegman was born March 22, 1949 in Freeburg, Missouri to Catherine Marie (Struempf) and Sylvester Joseph Wegman. The family moved to Wasco in 1952 and Charles attended St. John's School and graduated from Wasco Union High School with the Class of 1967. Charles great love was always racing cars; he built funny cars and loved to drag race at Famoso. Charles and his brother Glen owned and operated Wegman Bros Bodyshop. They also operated a recycling business, trucking and towing service. When he wasn't working on cars he could be found working in his yard, planting trees and plants that reminded him of Missouri. He made regular trips to Freeburg and always felt that was his home. Charles was a member of St. John's Church and the Knights of Columbus. Charles is survived by his daughter, Connie Wegman & husband Freddy Robledo; mother, Katherine Wegman; brother, Glen Wegman, all of Wasco; sister, Trish McGuire & husband Mac McGuire of Tollhouse; and long-time friend, Barbara and her family. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Wegman in 1980. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 30, at 10am St John's Church for Charles Patrick Wegman, age 63, of Wasco who passed away August 24, 2012 in Bakersfield. Inurnment will be held at Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home.
