A graveside service will be held Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10 am at the Shafter Memorial Park for Charles "Bud" Ray Wilson, of Bakersfield, who died July 17. Pastor Chuck Melton of Griffith Avenue Baptist Church will officiate. Bud was born August 5, 1937 in Lamar, Oklahoma to Marion and Dolly Wilson. He attended schools in Yuma, Arizona, and married Loretta Hawkins in Michigan, July 12, 1960. Together they moved to Bakersfield in 1965, and to Shafter in 1972, and finally Back to Bakersfield in 1997. Bud worked as an operations engineer in the construction industry for 35 years, and was a member of the Operating Engeneers Local 12. He loved racing motorcycles and cars, was the King or RC car racing in recent years, and was the West Coast National Champion at the age of 70! Bud is survived by his three sons, Obie Wilson, Marion Wilson and wife, Jane, Charles Wilson Jr and wife, Rosie, all of Bakersfield; five grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, Elizabeth, Wyatt and Wade; and three brothers-in-law, Charles, Bill and Orvett Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta in 2000, and both of his parents.
