Charles Leslie Gilbert was born April 22, 1960 in Bakersfield, California one of 3 sons born to Edna Mae (Hanson) and Charles Lester Gilbert. Leslie was a life-long resident of Shafter; attending Shafter elementary schools and graduating from Shafter High School with the Class of 1978. He worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies including Britz Fertilizer and McCaslin Trucking. He was a hard worker and was forced into retirement in 2000 when his health failed. Leslie will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor. Leslie is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Divina of Shafter and Leslie Gale Cole of Oklahoma; mother, Edna Gilbert of Shafter; brother, Randy Gilbert of Shafter; 6 grandchildren, Hailey, Alex, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Emily and Abigail. He was preceded in death by father, Charles Lester Gilbert and brother, Richard Gilbert. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11am at Shafter Memorial Park for Charles Leslie Gilbert, age 52, of Shafter who passed away May 14, 2012 at his home. Visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, from 3pm – 8pm.
