Charles Allen Fosdick, son of Iva Joe Johnston and Stephen Hosmer Fosdick, was born on September 8, 1951 in Anchorage, Alaska at Elemdorf Air Force where his father was stationed . He passed into Jesus's arms on June 17, 2010 in Bakersfield, California. 'Chuck' grew up in Shafter, California attending Richland Elementary, Shafter High School, and Bakersfield Junior College. He graduated from Cal State Bakersfield in 1974 with a teaching credential. He met the love of his life Deborah Ann Woodruff while involved with College Life/ Campus Crusade for Christ. Love blossomed into a wedding on January 4, 1975. Together 'Chuck' and Debbie joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in February of 1975. Together they served in the Campus Ministry at San Jose State and Santa Clara University moving to the organizations headquarters in San Bernardino where they transferred to the ministry's Athletes in Action section in Santa Ana. In 1981, Chuck and Debbie were blessed with their first daughter. In 1983 Chuck and Debbie returned to Bakersfield to pursue a teaching career. In the same year their second precious daughter was born. During the course of his career Chuck taught at Tulare Continuation High School, Cecil Ave. Junior High School and Chipman Junior High School. In 1991 Chuck and Debbie were blessed with their third daughter. Chuck served out the last of his career at Compton Junior High School medically retiring in 2006. Chuck enjoyed teaching students a love of history and reading. Chuck's life was a love of Jesus, family, and friends. He taught us the bottom line was that those three things, mixed with humor, honored the Lord. Chuck is survived by his wife Deborah, daughters and their husbands; Marcy and Anthony Marty, Casey and Chad Rosenlieb, and Melissa Fosdick. He was 'Papa' to seven grandchildren; Zackary, Darius, Cheyenne, Keatton, Colton, Bostyn, and Cannon. His sister and her husband, Lynda & Duain Waddle; his brother and his wife Randy and Vicky Fosdick , his brother an his wife Jon and Toni Johnston as well as many family members, and friends who will miss him. Services will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Peter's Funeral Home in Shafter, CA followed by Reception at 4:00 PM at Laurelglen Bible Church in Bakersfield, CA.
