Funeral services will be conducted for Charles E. Firkins, age 91, on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter, at 10am. Graveside services will follow at Shafter Memorial Park, with Military Honors, Pastor Herman Lippert will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13 from 2-8pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. Chuck was born in Cherryvale, Kansas on May 13, 1917. He married Celia "Sally" Cruz April 9, 1939, in Los Angeles, Ca. They moved to their current home in Shafter in 1954 and raised their four children. After Chuck and Sally retired they enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and spending lots of fun times with family and friends. Chuck leaves behind his four children and their spouses, Sally Holmes, Betty and Dean Fraley, Donald and Jeanie Firkins, Tom and Barbara Firkins; grandchildren, Steven Holmes, Teri Swan, Kelly Gregory, Derek Fraley, Kevin Firkins, Dawn Firkins, Jeff Firkins, Melanie Ponce; and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
