Charles Orion Adams was born November 19, 1925 in Greenbrier, Arkansas, one of two children born to Ola Frances (Mills) and William Burford Adams. Chuck was raised in Pike, Texas and the family moved frequently during his teens living in Arizona, Arvin and Shafter, California, back to Texas and also Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1942 Chuck joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific, Florida, and Hawaii during World War II being honorable discharged in 1946. Chuck met Mary Alice "Jeannie" Ingram and they were married December 26, 1946. Chuck and Jeannie lived in California and he worked on drilling rigs in the oil fields until he began his 33 year career with the Department of Water Resources for the State of California. Chuck started out drilling core samples and helping to build the California Aqua Duct and retired as maintenance supervisor for the California Aqua Duct in 1984. Chuck and Jeannie enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with the family. He raised his sons to love the outdoors. After 52 years of marriage Jeannie preceded him death January 1, 1999. After Jeannie passed away Chuck married Becky Johns in 2000. He grew to love her daughter, Joanie and her sons, Greg and Clay. Becky was instrumental in leading Chuck to Christ and they attended the Jesus Saves Church in Shafter. Becky also preceded Chuck in death, passing away in 2006. Chuck is survived by his sons, Charles Adams (Alicia) of Shafter and Brian Adams of Wasco; sister, Dorothy Haney of Tennessee; grandchildren, Nicole (Chad), Elyse (Blake), and Micah; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Charlie, Carson, Claire, Shae and Vin; special cousins, Ferral and Betty; and many other loving family members. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, at 10am at Lakewood Cemetery, Hughson, California for Charles Orion Adams, age 89, of Wasco who passed away April 4, 2015 in Bakersfield. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 9 from 2pm to 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
