Obituary

Long time Wasco and recent Bakersfield resident Charles Bond Jr. went home to be with our Lord on January 28, 2015. Mr. Bond was born October 8, 1926, in Denoya, Okla., to Charles and Della Bond. Charles was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, who always put his family first and gave them all he had inside to give. Charles was a wonderful man and brought joy and humor to all he came in contact with. He never met a person he couldn't strike up a conversation with. Charles served his country proudly in World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy which included his longest and most memorable stint aboard a Minesweeper, the USS Terror (CM5). Upon discharge, he went to work for Mobil Oil and continued with them as his only employer for 38 years. After retirement, he continued his association with the Mobil Corporation as the President of the Mobil Oil Valley Annuitants Club. Recently he participated with the Pioneer Petroleum Producers. He had a lifelong passion for golf of which he was happy to tell about his three hole in ones, was an avid league bowler and enjoyed stream and deep sea fishing. After retirement, he traveled the country with his wife Pat and was able to see everything from Hawaii to the East Coast, and Canada down to Mexico. Charles was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Wasco, Ca and for the past 12 plus years has been a member of Valley Baptist Church in Bakersfield, Ca. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Bond, his parents, Charles Bond and Della Cornelius, sister Bobbie Williams, and step brothers Harold, Olis and Willis Baker. He leaves behind his son, Stacy and daughter-in-law Melanie Bond; daughter, Traci and son-in-law Roger Sharp; his two grandchildren, Lacie and husband Rex Phinney, Roger C. Sharp and wife Kristen; great grandchildren Ella and Charlotte Sharp. He will be greatly missed, but we take comfort in knowing he is in Heaven with Jesus now. A graveside service will be held at Wasco Memorial Park on Wednesday February 4th, 2015, at 12:00pm. Viewing will take place at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco from 9:00am to 11:00am. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Grace Community Church in Wasco, CA.
