Arvin Funeral Home will be conducting a funeral service, Wednesday, December 27, at 11am at St. Thomas Catholic Church for Celia Ortega, age 60, of Bakersfield who passed December 21, 2006, in Bakersfield. Father Pedro Umana from St Therese Catholic Church of Shafter will officiate and interment will follow at South Kern Cemetery District. Viewing was held Tuesday, December 26, at the residence home, 849 Bear Mtn. Blvd. Arvin, Ca. 93203, from 4-9pm with the Recitation of The Holy Rosary at 6pm. Celia was born to Jose Guadalupe and Ricarda Castro on December 06, 1946 in Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico. She came to California in the late 1980's where she spent most of her life working as a farm laborer. Celia enjoyed gardening, flowers, and caring for her birds. She was a great cook and a devoted mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Celia was a strong woman and she didn't want people to worry about things that could not be changed. She will be greatly missed by all she loved. Celia is survived by her husband Antonio Ortega; her sons, Ricardo, Jose, Ramon, Juan, Hector and Hugo Ortega; her daughters, Olivia and Rosa Ortega; her brother, Justino Castro; her sisters, Amelia Castro, Elena Hernandez and Eva Castro; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Celia is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Ricarda Castro; her sister, Eufemia Ramos and her two brothers Manuel and Miguel Castro.
