Celia Garcia Yepez was born November 11, 1948 in Apatzingan, Michoacán, Mexico to Jose Garcia and Maria de Carmen Yepez. She married Antonio Garcia on October 19, 1963. Antonia and 4 of their children came to Bakersfield in 1985 and Celia followed with their other 4 children in 1990. Celia served her family as a homemaker; they loved her cooking and said she was the best cook. Celia was always helpful to those in need and was the one children and grandchildren ran to for help. She gave them honest advice and if needed would "set them straight". Celia loved her plants and garden, using the flowers from her garden to decorate the graves of loved ones. Celia enjoyed being at home, when she agreed to accompany family to events, it wasn't long before she wanted to return home "to care for her plants". Celia was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio who passed away November 29, 2007; her parents and 2 brothers. She is survived by her children, Antonio (Gabriela) Garcia, Adalberto (Maria de Jesus) Garcia, Juan Cesar Garcia, Jose Luis Garcia, Maria Yolanda Garcia ( Benancio Segura), Mariana Garcia (Felipe Benitez), Celia Benitez (Santos) and Gabriela Aguilar (Rene); sisters, Herminia Garcia Yepez and Eloisa Garcia Yepez; 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services for Celia Garcia Garcia, age 66, of Shafter who passed away October 2, 2015 in Bakersfield will begin with a wake to be held at the family residence on Thursday, October 8 beginning at 4pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 9, at 10am at St. Therese's Church. Fr. David Enriquez will officiate the service and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
