Cecilia Loya was born November 22, 1934 in Sunnyvale, California to Hipolita (Perales) and Jose Loya. The family moved to Wasco and Sally entered kindergarten at St. John's School. After graduation from St. John's she went on to Wasco High School graduating with the Class of 1952. Sally loved Wasco and the people she met became her friends; she would keep in touch with them, and share in their lives and their families lives. Everyone will remember Sally from her many years working at Wasco Family Pharmacy and later at Rite Aid, retiring in 2002. She liked helping people and always greeted everyone with a smile and had a caring and compassionate heart. She collected Hallmark Christmas Ornaments and her favorites had a rocking horse theme. Sally always had a dog and loved them dearly, Darby her black poodle was her favorite. She was an active member of St. John's Church until her health started to fail. Sally is survived by her grandsons, Gabriel Contreras and fiancé Corina of Wasco and Dustin Contreras of Bakersfield; great-grandchildren, Andrew Contreras, Carleen Maldonado, Faresse Contreras, Serena Contreras, Jacob Villa and Isaiah Contreras; brother, Ray Loya; cousins, Gilbert Saldana and Joe Manuel Saldana; best friends, Connie Montemayor and Richard Martinez; nieces, nephews and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Raymond Perales Loya. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 28 at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco for Cecilia "Sally" Loya, age 78, of Wasco who passed away February 22, 2013 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said Friday, March 1 at 10am at St. John's Church. Fr. John Fluetsch will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2pm – 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
