It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother. Cecilia “Mary” Hill (Holguin), who left us peacefully on May 7, 2026 at the age of 71.
Born on February 2, 1955 in Pecos, Texas, to the late Gustavo and Angelita Holguin. In the early 1970’s her family settled in Shafter where she attended Richland Schools and Shafter High School. Cecilia worked several jobs over her lifetime, and took great pride in the work she did, whether it was serving lunches at Shafter High School, cleaning classrooms at Richland Elementary Schools, North Kern Chrisitan School or cleaning local offices and churches she consistently delivered excellent results through hard work.
On July 5, 1973 Cecilia married the late Herman “Tommy” Hill, and had four children. They are survived by their children and their spouses. Tommie Sue Cordova (Wilfredo), Gregory Scott Hill (Mercedes), Kenneth Dale Hill (Anna) and Ashley Nicole Contreras (Moises). Although their marriage ended, they remained lifelong friends and shared a deep love for their children and grandchildren. After her marriage ended she met and feel in love with Billy C. Martin and they remained together until his passing.
Cecilia also known as “Nana” was sure to be spotted around the schools picking up and dropping off her grand children and great grand children. “Nana” was their biggest fan, no matter what sport or activity they were doing she was there cheering them on. She could be spotted every Friday night and Saturday mornings at the football games cheering for both her grandson on the field and her cheerleading granddaughters on the sidelines. She loved to watch them play sports, sing and dance. “Nana” was proud of everything they did and will be greatly missed by Mickey, Matthew, Jasmine, Willis, Madelynn, Aliza, Moises Jr., Aaron, Michael, Greg Jr., Vincent, Eli, Dolores, Desiree, Denise, Joe, Izaak and Mahkai
Cecilia was known for her great sense of humor, her generosity, love and support. The one thing about Cecilia is that if there was a need and she could help meet it, she would not hesitate to jump in and support. Her laughter and smile was contagious and she was so much fun to be around. We will miss her shenanigans like making tiktoks with her granddaughters, singing, dancing and trying to play match maker.
Memorial services celebrating Cecilia’s life will start with a visitation at Peter’s Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4:00-8:00PM. Funeral service will be held at Congregational Bible Church Shafter at 9:00AM on Friday, May 22, 2026 with graveside service to follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
