Cathy Denise Bozarth-Colbert was born on November 9, 1960 in Westminster, Ca. to Eva June (Howard) and Carl Bozarth. Cathy graduated from Wasco High School in 1978. She then attended Bakersfield College and San Diego State where she received a bachelor's degree in Physical Education. During high school and college Cathy was a cheerleader and dancer; she was always an athletic and talented performer, as well as coach. She offered swim lessons and synchronized swimming lessons to those who wanted to learn. Her favorite sports to watch were NASCAR and NFL football. On September 2, 2006 Cathy married Thomas Colbert in Wasco. She worked for the Kern County Sherriff's department for many years and also with the Department of Corrections at numerous prisons in the area including Wasco State Prison. Family members will remember Cathy for her vivacious and lively personality, always happy go lucky. Cathy loved animals and caring for her cats and horses, but her most blessed joy in life was raising her twins, Tyler and Carlyn. She will be greatly missed. Cathy is preceded in death by her father Carl "Papa" Bozarth. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Colbert; her mother, Eva Bozarth-Clement and husband Harmon; one son, Tyler Bozarth Tillett; daughters, Carlyn Bozarth Tillett, and Kaitlyn Colbert; brothers, Nate and wife Tammy Bozarth, Jerry and wife Terri Bozarth, Randall and wife Anita Clement, Martin and wife Cathy Clement, and Terry and wife Janice Clement; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, beginning at 10am at Grace Community Church for Cathy Denise Bozarth-Colbert, age 50, of Wasco, who passed away on January 13, 2011 in Bakersfield. Pastor Jim Nixon will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
