Obituary

Catherine (Katy) Linscott passed away peacefully on June 17th in Bakersfield, California. She was the oldest of three girls born to Leo and Ellen Rowan in Denver, Colorado. Katy was employed in the broadcast business at KLZ radio when she met her future husband, Oscar, who was a commissioned officer in the Army Air Corps. They were married on February 7, 1942. After the war, they settled in Taft, California and subsequently Bakersfield. Katy was a devout Catholic who loved her children and husband, Oscar, who predeceased her in April 2010. She was an accomplished seamstress, avid reader, and enjoyed working on her crossword puzzles. She was at her happiest in her retirement home in Morro Bay, California where she lived until the death of her husband. Katy was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, and a son, Michael. She is survived by a son Dennis Linscott, son Timothy and wife Shirley Linscott, and daughter Barbara and husband Jim Crettol. She is additionally survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday June 26th at Our Lady of Perpetual Church at 9 am in Bakersfield with internment following in Wasco, California. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Chronic Disease Fund; 6900 North Dallas Parkway, Suite 200; Plano, Texas 75024. The family would like to give special thanks to Glenwood Gardens and their staff in Assisted Living for taking such good care of her these last two years. Arrangements are under the direction of Peter Funeral Home, Wasco.
