Catarino Garcia Macias was born March 1, 1943 in El Rosario, Jalisco, Mexico to Esperanza (Macias) and J. Guadalupe Garcia, one of six children. He and Angelina Cuellar married in Mexico and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. They moved to California, living in Salinas and Coalinga before settling in Shafter in 1980. Catarino was a truck driver for over 25 years, working for Payne Allied, Harris Ranch, Soliz Trucking, Lamb Chops and Steven's Trucking. Catarino loved going to the aqua duct and canal to fish; gardening and growing vegetables to share with family and friends; and listening to music. Catarino is survived by his wife, Angelina de Garcia; mother, Esperanza Garcia; sons, Guadalupe, Joel, Carlos and Jose Antonio; daughters, Leticia Salinas, Sylvia Villacana and Bertha Uribe; brothers, Salvador and Guadalupe; sister, Teresa Mesa; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his father, J. Guadalupe; sister Trinidad and brother, Jorge. Holy Rosary will be recited Tuesday, April 14 at 7pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter for Catarino Garcia Macias, age 72, of Shafter who passed away April 9, 2015 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 15 at 10am at St. Therese's Catholic Church, Shafter. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14 from 5pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
