Carmen Soliz went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2010 at the age of 99. Carmen was born July 16, 1910 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Manuelita and Sylvester Nava. She was raised in the surroundings of Texas but most of her stories include San Antonio and Corpus Christy. Texas is where she married the love of her life Adolfo Soliz Sr. on May 24, 1935. She and her husband were blessed three sons and two daughters. She and her family have been residing in Shafter for the last 37 years where she attended St. Therese's Catholic Church. She was a great cook, who enjoyed making tortillas or baking while telling a story or while visiting with extended family. Carmen was preceded in death by husband, Adolfo Soliz Sr. (1983); sons, Alonzo and Arturo Soliz; daughter, Sylvia Gobea and survived by her loving son, Adolfo Soliz Jr. and wife Terry; daughter Adelfina Narvais and spouse Lupe; 27 grand children, numerous great- grand children and many great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 4, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Therese's Catholic Church, Shafter with graveside to follow at the Shafter Cemetery. Viewing will be at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy in Shafter beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.
