Carmen Sabala July 16, 1926 – November 4, 2009 Carman Sabala was born July 16, 1926 to Joseph Sanchez and Esther Barboza Sanchez in Wasco, California. She attended Wasco elementary schools and Wasco High School. She married Sam Sabala and they continued to make Wasco their home where they raised their family. Carmen worked in agriculture all her life. Carmen was a devoted Catholic and volunteered at the St. John's School and Thrift Store. Carmen's devotion to raising a large family and working full-time didn't leave much time for fun, but she enjoyed dancing when she got the chance. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Esther Sanchez; brother, William "Bill" Sanchez and half-brother, Jimmie Sanchez. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Sam Sabala of Wasco; sons, Sam Sabala, Jr. of Bakersfield and Jose Sabala and wife Cynthia of Wasco; daughters, Patricia and husband Eusebio Garza of Wasco, Debbie and husband Stuart Haas of Bakersfield, Angelica and husband Robert Hernandez of Wasco, Evelyn and husband Robert Yates of Morgan Hills and Janice and husband Roy Chamberlain of Los Angeles; sisters, Sara Teutimez of Los Angeles, Annie Aguilar of Bakersfield and Katherine Woodford of Fontana; half-sister, Josie Andrade and half-brother, Bonifacio Sanchez and half-brother, Fred Sanchez; 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members. Holy Rosary will be recited Monday, November 9, at 6:30pm at St. John's Church, Wasco for Carmen Sabala, age 83, of Wasco who passed away November 4, 2009 in Delano. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 10, at 10am, Fr. John Fluetsch will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitations will be held Sunday, November 8 from 9am to 4pm at Peters Funeral Home and Monday, November 9 from 3pm to 8pm at St. John's Church.
