Carmen Montejano Ruiz was born in Corona, California on March 8, 1943 to Benjamin and Gladys (Ramirez) Montejano. She was a resident of Wasco, where she worked as a Clerk for the migrant program for 36 years. She was known by "Conky" to many close friends and family. Conky enjoyed spending time at the casino and playing bingo. Her passion was contributing to the education of the students of the migrant program. She attended St. Johns Catholic Church and was involved in many church activities. Conky donated her talent of crochet to the art work in the St. John's Chapel. Her greatest treasures were her seven grandchildren, but that soon changed when her great-grandson Herbert Jeffrey III "Pop Pop" arrived. Carmen was cherished by her family and will be greatly missed. She passed away on November 13, 2014 at the age of 71. Conky is survived by her two daughters Lori (Johnny) Castillo, and Gladys (Amparo) Rosales; brother George Montejano; sisters Margaret Montejano, Rosarita Felix, Guadalupe Enriquez; seven grandchildren Janessa Rosales, Amy Castillo, Danielle McDonald ( Herbert Jeffery McDonald Jr.), Johnny Castillo Jr., Sophia Rosales, Frankie Castillo, and Samantha Castillo; great- grandson Herbert Jeffery McDonald III . She is preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Gladys Montejano; sisters Agustina Benavides, and Dora Bravo; brothers Joe Montejano, Frank Montejano, Freddy Montejano, Tony Montejano, and Grasiano Montejano. A mass of a Christian Burial was officiated by Father Raul Sanchez on Wednesday, November 18, 2014 at 10am at St. Johns Catholic Church. A visitation was held Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 4-6pm at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Wasco, California. Recitation of the Holy Rosary was 6:30pm Tuesday, November 19, 2014 from 6pm-8pm at St. Johns Catholic Church.
