Carmen Petra Ortiz was born August 1, 1929 in Wasco Ca., to parents Reyes and Catalina Garcia. She graduated from Wasco Union High School in 1948, and 2 years later she was married to the love of her life, Andrew Ortiz. Carmen worked as a manager of a credit bureau in Bakersfield for over 30 years. She enjoyed watching sports and loved to root on the San Francisco Giants, as well as, the 49ers and Warriors. Carmen was a strong and independent woman, but also very loving and nurturing. She will be greatly missed. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Reyes and Catalina; her husband, Andrew; son, Mark Ortiz; and her brother, Rudy Garcia. She is survived by her children, Barbara Martinez, Leonard (and Denise) Ortiz, and Tim (and Maribel) Ortiz; one sister, Julia Lugo; grandchildren, Raymond Martinez, Michael Martinez (and girlfriend Daisy), Barbara Ortiz-Marquez (Johnny), Mark Ortiz, Sarah Ortiz, Matt Jones, Mathew Ortiz, Ashley and Erica Ortiz; great grandchildren, Elysha Martinez, Isaiah Martinez and Jesse Ortiz; and great great grandchild, Alexander Lucero. Carmen passed away June 29, 2016 in Bakersfield, Ca. Rosary service will be held at St. John's Catholic Church on Thursday, July 7, 2016 beginning at 6pm. Mass will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 beginning at 2pm.
