Carlota G. Perales was born in Hanford, California on November 4, 1919 to Hilario and Francisca (Lozano) Gallegos. Her family migrated to California in 1918. Carlota was self taught to read and write and loved the history of Mexico. Carlota was married in Juarez, Mexico in 1947 and moved to El Paso, Texas where she raised her children. Carlota worked for Armstrong Nurseries and Bell Ridge Packing Shed for 30 years as a farm laborer. She traveled to many archeological sites and museums. Carlota Perales passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2013 in Bakersfield, California. She was a resident of Shafter, California for many years and will be missed by numerous friend and family members. Carlota Perales was survived by her children Rosa Arteaga, Jess Perales, Hortencia Garza, Frank Perales, Carlos Perales and Blanca Gamboa; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. The Mass of the Resurrection was officiated by Padre Pedro Umana at St Therese's Catholic Church on Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 10am. A visitation was held at Peters Funeral Home on Monday June 10, 2013 at 5pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm.
