IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carla Guillermina
Dominguez
February 10, 1959 – December 16, 2025
Carla Guillermina Dominguez, a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 66. Carla was a woman whose love, strength, and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on February 10th, 1959, in Salinas, California, Carla was the cherished daughter of Nieves Salas Barraza. She spent her early years in Gonzales, California where she built the foundation of a life rooted in family, resilience, and love. From a young age, Carla had a passion for sports and was an active athlete, playing competitively until the age of 18. Her determination, teamwork, and vibrant spirit were evident both on and off the field. She loved softball, volleyball, and basketball.
During her summers in Wasco, California, Carla experienced one of the most meaningful chapters of her life, meeting the love of her life, Jaime Dominguez in 1976. Their bond grew into a lifelong partnership built on devotion, shared dreams, and unwavering support. She moved to Wasco in 1978.
Carla married Jaime on May 26th, 1979. They went on to have their son Steven and daughter Valerie.
Carla worked for about 6 months at the Shafter Farm Labor Camp School in 1978. After that she worked for her brother-in-law Jimmy Lopez doing payroll as well as Belridge Garlic Plant.
In 1993 She began her job at Wasco High School as an Attendance Clerk and then moved on to be the Registrar for the school. She was employed at Wasco High for 32 years. In 2012-2013 she was classified as Employee of the year.
Throughout her early years not only tending to her family and job, she also enjoyed coaching. She coached volleyball for girls at St Johns School. She helped coach minor t-ball, girls softball rec, and girls high school JV. She played ladies softball called the Contreras Chicks.
Having an athletic background and passion for sports, it only made sense that she would become not only her own kids but the grandkid's biggest, loudest supporter and cheerleader! She would be front and center for their games and dance recitals. She traveled everywhere they went to watch as long as she could, no matter how far they went. Once she couldn't travel due to chemo, she continued to watch all games via livestream. She loved watching her grandkids compete. Carla was a LA Dodgers and Minnesota Vikings fan.
Carla was the heart of her family. As a mother and nana, she gave endlessly, always placing her loved ones first, offering guidance, comfort, and unconditional love. As a sister, aunt, and cousin she was a source of strength, laughter, and wisdom. To her friends, Carla was loyal, compassionate, and deeply caring, someone who showed up without hesitation and loved without limits.
Carla is survived by her husband Jaime Dominguez, son Steven Dominguez, daughter Valerie (Mario Jr Juarez). Grandchildren Penelope and James Dominguez, Izaiah, Jazlyn, Izaac, and Jizelle Juarez. Her sisters Ida (Jimmy) Lopez, Esther (Ernie) Soltero, Rosalinda (Mario) Palomares along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored her and will continue to honor her memory.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Guillermo and Rosario Salas, whose love and values helped shape the woman she became. Her mother Nieves Salas Barraza, her brother-in-law Jimmy Lopez, Ernie Soltero.
Her legacy lives on through the many lives shaped with her generosity, warmth, and strong spirit. Carla will be remembered for her resilience, love of family, her joyful presence, and the lasting memories she created with those she held close.
She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
