Carl James Brock was born on July 11, 1935, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Charles and Zelma Brock. The family moved to Shafter in 1947, and Carl attended Shafter Elementary School and Kern High School. He married Shirley Scott, February, 1955, in Nevada. He was by trade a cement mixer truck driver with the Teamsters. Carl was a hotrod enthusiast… building hotrods from the ground up; he always had a project car that he was working on and once it was built he would sell it and start on a new hotrod. He loved to use his sand rail at the dunes at the beach. Carl is survived by sisters, Mildred Brock of Bakersfield, Voncile White of Oklahoma; aunt, Sadie Mink of Bakersfield; 3 children, Diana, Richard and wife Nancy, and Chuck of Bakersfield; 7 grandchildren, Letha, Michael and Tara of Bakersfield, Amanda, Amy, Andrea, and Shauna, of Washington; 3 great grandsons, Brock and Wyatt of Bakersfield, and Riley of Washington, and one great granddaughter, Hailey of Washington, and numerous family and friends. Private inurnment was under the direction of Peters Funeral Home.
