IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda Lou
Tovar
January 20, 1964 – September 13, 2024
Brenda Lou Tovar, affectionately known as Brenda to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, in Wasco, California, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on January 20, 1964, in Salinas, California. Brenda's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and selflessness.
Brenda was a proud graduate of Wasco High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for her future endeavors. After completing her education, she embarked on a career journey that included eight years of dedicated service at the Ross Distribution Center and several years as a cherished waitress at Perkos Restaurant. Brenda's work ethic and warm personality made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and customers alike.
Her true passion, however, was her family. Brenda was the heart and soul of her family, a role she embraced with every fiber of her being. She is preceded in death by her brother Edward Applewhite. She is survived by her devoted mother, Betty Settlemire; her father Jerry Applewhite, and his wife Patricia, her loving husband of 43 years Greg Tovar; her sons, Greg Tovar Jr. and Anthony Tovar, along with their wives, Monica and Roxy Tovar; and her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca, Jossue, Gregory, Cassandra, Dustin, Elisha, Anthony Jr., Michael, Wyatt, Ryan, and Austin. Brenda was also a doting great-grandmother to Carter, Carly, and Cameron. Her sister, Penny Waderich, brother-in-law, Gary Waderich, and their children April, Andy, and Nicole. Step sister Debbie and Deanne, Sister-in-law, Lorraine Gutierrez, and her nephews, Danny Gonzalez, Jacob Tuck, Jared Applewhite, and niece, Melissa Applewhite, will hold dear the memories they shared.
Brenda's life was filled with moments of joy and laughter, a reflection of her own funny and loving nature. Her selfless attitude was a beacon of light for all who knew her. She found her greatest happiness in the company of her family, where she was not only a matriarch but also a friend, confidante, and source of boundless love.
An avid lover of family gatherings, Brenda's presence was the glue that bonded her family together. She was the most forgiving person we knew. Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to find humor in the everyday endeared her to everyone she met. Brenda made everyone around her feel loved, valued, and joyous, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Brenda's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the joy of life's simple pleasures. She taught those around her the importance of putting family first, of being there for one another through thick and thin, and of facing life's challenges with strength and a smile.
As we say farewell to Brenda, we celebrate her life and the countless memories she has gifted us. Her spirit will continue to live on through the lives of her family and the many people she touched. Brenda Lou Tovar was a remarkable woman, and though she may be gone, her light will continue to shine in the legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In the words of the beautiful soul Brenda Lou Tovar "I love you more!"
