Obituary

Brenda Jean Miller 1956-2010 Brenda Jean Miller was born in Hammond, Indiana on July 22, 1956 to James and Betty Childress. Brenda passed away quietly on February 15, 2010 with her family at her side. Brenda met and fell in love with Daniel Wayne Miller and the two were married on December 14, 1995. They lived in Hutsonville and Robinson Illinois before moving to Bakersfield, CA. in 2000 in order to be closer to their grandchildren. Much of Brenda's career was spent creating culinary delights for her family and friends, as well as strangers. Brenda worked hard to take care of herself and her children as a chef in dozens of restaurants throughout the Midwest and California. She operated her own restaurant in Hutsonville before attending Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois, where she specialized in the culinary arts. Brenda catered for many large groups including the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. She had her own unique style of cooking and many patrons came from far and wide to feast on her giant cinnamon rolls. Brenda and Dan shared a passion for helping others which they cultivated in their work as hotel/motel managers. Making others feel at home and comfortable was very important to them and they made many lasting friendships in their six years in this field. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and laughing with her special friends, Todd and Kim. Brenda and Dan spent every day with their beloved dog, Rudy, who brought them many hours of companionship and love. In addition to her beloved husband, Dan, she is survived by her sons Dustin Childress and Adam Childress. Brenda had a warm place in her heart for her special daughter Kiley and Dan's son David. The greatest joys in her life were her grandson Pacey Cole Childress and granddaughter. McKenzie Isabella Childress. Many happy memories of the good times with their "Grandma Brenda" during the summers, swimming, playing and laughing will be a lasting legacy for Pacey and McKenzie. She leaves behind many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and cherished friends. Visitation will be held on Friday Feb 26 from 5-8pm at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy, Shafter. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Feb 27 at 1PM at Peters Funeral Home. Please sign Brenda's register book at goldenvalleymemorialcare.com
