Borjas Gonzalez Gonzalez, 44, of McFarland, CA passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 after a long and brave fight with cancer. Borjas was born on November 15, 1969 in Delano, CA to Santiago and Sylvia Gonzalez. He grew up in McFarland, CA and moved to Seattle, WA shortly after graduating McFarland High School in 1987. He loved to travel every chance he got. He worked at Home Depot and City Ice in Seattle for many years where he made many friends. Borjas did not know a stranger. He loved to meet new people and learn about other cultures. He was a free spirit through and through. After being diagnosed with chondrosarcoma in 2010, he remained in Seattle until 2013. He surrendered his life to Jesus Christ on February 4, 2013. He moved back to Bakersfield to be with family shortly after and he lived there until his passing. Borjas is survived by his parents Santiago and Sylvia Gonzalez and his siblings Mary Lou Shaw, Eduardo Gonzalez, Araceli Hurley, and Santiago Gonzalez, Jr. along with nieces and nephews, Katie Shaw, Megan Shaw, Adam Gonzalez, Daniel Shaw, Lauren Shaw, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Carolina Gonzalez, Olivia Gonzalez, Alexandria Gonzalez and Rebekah Hurley. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Borjas and Maria Gonzalez and Antonio and Maria Gonzalez and niece, Sarah Gonzalez. Special thanks to Mercy Hospice, Swedish Medical Center of Seattle, City Ice of Seattle, and countless friends and family that visited him and prayed for him. Psalm 91:1-2- "He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust." Viewing will be on September 25, 2014 4-8:00 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy, Shafter, CA. Service on September 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 835 E. Perkins Ave, McFarland, CA. Interment will follow after services at Shafter Memorial Park.
