Bonnie was born May 12, 1931 in Belpre, Kansas. She married A.J. Hendrix on May 14, 1949, and they were married for 46 years when A.J. went to be with the Lord at the age of 66. They had three daughters: Judy, Nancy and Linda. Bonnie was an employee of the Arvin Union School District for 26 ½ years retiring in November of 1989. She was a member of the Kern County School Food Service Association, and at times held offices of Secretary, Vice-President and even President. She was also a member of the California School Employees Association, holding the offices of Secretary, Vice-President and President. Bonnie and A.J. were members of the Eagles Camper Club #2, and years ago they also enjoyed square dancing in Bakersfield and other areas. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Joshua Grau, sister JoAnne Williamson, brother Ed Davis, husband A.J. Hendrix and son-in-law Mike Grau. Survivors include her brother Gary O'Neal and family of Lakewood, daughter Judy Grau of Palmdale, daughter Nancy McClanahan and husband Larry of Bakersfield, daughter Linda Overturf and husband Michael of Lamont, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of friends. The family would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice for the great care they gave their mother for the last 2 months of her life and especially Juanita Perez who came out three times a week. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2010 – 1:00pm, for Bonnie Hendrix, age 78 of Lamont, at Assembly of God Church in Arvin with interment immediately following at South Kern Cemetery District. Arvin Funeral Home will have visiting in their chapel March 23, 2010 from 3-5pm.
