Bobby Eugene Dunlap was born November 19, 1928 in Lonoke, Arkansas to George (Bud) Dunlap and Lilly Mae (Kirkalin) Dunlap. He received his elementary school education in Arkansas and then like many of the Dust Bow Era quit school to work with his family as migrant farm workers. This took the family throughout California, but they eventually settled in Wasco. Bobby was a self-made man who bettered himself and the life of his family by working hard. He worked for Cal Kern, which later became Simplot, for Twin Farms and for Ken Paul Farms. Bobby enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. Bobby and Virginia Doris Luna were married April 2, 1958 in Bakersfield and she preceded him in death on January 22, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his son, Billy Dunlap; brother, Billy Dunlap; and sister, Betty Sheffield. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Dunlap and wife Jamie of Wasco; daughter, Debrah Murphy and husband Roy of Bakersfield; daughter-in-law, Sandra Webb of Wasco; brother, Buddy Dunlap of Arkansas; sister, Anna Mae of Louisiana; sister-in-law, Linda Dunlap of Wasco; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held Saturday, January 2, 2009 at 2pm at Wasco Memorial Park for Bobby Eugene Dunlap, age 81, of Wasco who passed away December 24, 2009 in Bakersfield. Pastor Sandra Webb of the Tabernacle of Praise Church of Godwill officiate the service and interment will follow. A reception will follow the service at the church.
