Bob E. Phillips Sr. (Poppa Bob) 3/12/1934 - 12/17/2006 Bob Ewing Phillips 72, of Wasco, died Dec. 17, 2006, in Bakersfield, CA. He was born March 12, 1934, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, the son of the late John Buford Phillips and Maggie Leam Littlejohn. His services were held December 20, 2006, Rev. John Ross of Westside Family Fellowship Church conducted the services. Interment followed in Wasco Memorial Park. He graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1952, with honors majoring in F.F.A. and wrestling for 4 years achieving honors & his Sallisaw Black Diamond Coat. In order to win this special jacket he had to win 8 matches a year for 4 years and he did. He was a Pentecostal and accepted the Lord as his savior December 2, 1998, and a member of the Westside Family Fellowship since 1999; his pastor was Rev. John Ross. His occupations were Agriculture farm work, Self-Employed; Roadsiding Alfalfa Hay the year 1958, when Phillips & Reave Hay Company was formed. He also worked for Armstrong and Jackson Perkins Rose Company; He retired February 29, 1998 after 35 years as a Foreman. He was awarded special gifts and merit awards such as a Bronze Bear that all employees received for their good performances. He leaves behind his beloved wife LaMona Waldron Phillips, of 53 years, who he married August 29, 1953. His two children, a daughter Deborah Kay Morelock of Wasco, one son Pastor Bob Ewing Phillips, Jr. of Bakersfield, His daughter-in-law Phyllis Jannine Phillips. His four grandchildren Deanna Lee Morelock of Wasco, Abagil Jordan, Aaron Samuel and Victoria Paige Phillips all of Bakersfield. His tow sisters, Bernice Looper of Sallisaw, OK., Milfred Waldron of Bakersfield. Bob was a highly respecterd Sportsman. He loved to fish, hunt, and was know as very skilled marksman. His great joy was to spend time with is beloved nephews, Dennis, Michael O'Laughlin; Bill Waters, and Richard James Looper. His grandson Aaron Phillips was following in his grandfather footsteps already getting to be the next Phillips to carry a fishing pole and a shotgun with his Poppa Bob instructing him. Those that preceded him in death were, His parents John Buford Phillips and Maggie Leam Littlejohn, one brother, Goffery Phillips; His sisters, Jean Waters and Bessie O'Laughlin. His other nieces and nephews and friends, he loved so much. Peters Funeral Home in Wasco handled the services.
