Billy Ray Derry passed away on August 26, 2010 at the age of 76. Billy was born in Oklahoma on June 28, 1934, to Kiawana and Willie Derry. Billy moved to Shafter with his family when he was about 10 years old. He travelled around for work in his younger years but no matter where he went, he always ended up back in Shafter. He spent 20 years in Shafter working as a tire repairman. He enjoyed country music and a cold one after a long day. He also was a bit of an antique collector, mainly auto and farming equipment. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His nick-name was "Papa the Snowman" to his grandchildren. Billy will be greatly missed by his loving wife Rosalie; son Kenneth and wife Cecilia Derry; daughter Linda and husband William Rasmussen; brothers Harold Derry, Ron and Wife Melinda Boling; sister Doralene Scott; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents and Gary Derry. Services to be announced.
