Beloved husband, father and grandfather Bill Odell Yarbrough passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 in Bakersfield, California. He was born in Delhi, Oklahoma on June 21, 1936 and was the youngest son of J.C. and Ada Yarbrough. Bill's Family came to California during the dust bowl of the 1930's. He was raised in Shafter and Buttonwillow along with his 12 older brothers and sisters. Bill attended school at Richland elementary and was and alumni of Shafter High. He met and married Bertie Josephine Crump in 1955, together they raised three beautiful daughters. Patsy Ruth, Kay Jo and Laurie Ann. Bill worked for Rancher's Cotton Oil as a Foreman for many years. In 1984 he welcomed his only grandchild Amiee Leann, and proceeded to spoil her rotten. He took her every morning to the local café's for breakfast. They both enjoyed these special times together. Amiee's special message to her grandpa "Papa; they will forever be picking on me." In later years he enjoyed gardening, rooting for the Dodgers and watching cowboy movies. He was a husband, a father and a grandfather and we loved him more than words can say. Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years Bertie; daughters Patsy Ruth, Kay Jo, and Laurie Ann; granddaughter Amiee Leann Rind. He is preceded in death by his parents John Clemens Yarbrough and Ada Mae; brothers Edward, J.C., Elmer, Jim Ross, and John Ross; sisters Alma, Juanita, Veltie and Goldie. Funeral services for Bill Yarbrough are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home in Shafter on Tuesday September 9, 2014 at the Shafter Memorial Park at 10am. The family visitation is scheduled for Monday September 8, 2014 at the Peters Funeral Home Chapel from 4-8pm.
