Betty Sue McPhetridge August 4, 1934 – March 4, 2012 Betty Sue McPhetridge was born on August 4, 1934 to Chloe (Schiler) and Otis Vaughn in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Betty grew up in Arkansas and married the love of her life Joe McPhetridge on May 12, 1950. They moved to California in 1970, first to Delano and later relocated to Wasco where they raised their family. Betty enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking for her family. She was interested in designing and creating dry floral arrangements; many afternoons she and Joe would drive to the foothills and countryside to gather cattails and other wild flowers for her projects. The family was musical and many Sundays the family gathered at her home to spend the afternoon singing and playing the guitar. Betty also loved to write songs. Her love for the simple country life was exemplified in her life and favorite TV show "Little House on the Prairie". Betty was the prayer warrior of the family and that is how she started each day. She was a loving grandma who thought her grandchildren could do no wrong. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Joe McPhetridge and wife Charlotte, and Robert McPhetridge all of Bakersfield; 5 grandchildren, Shawn Tiger, Criston McPhetridge, Ashley McPhetridge, Amanda O'Donnell and Shannon Mendonca; and 14 great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; brother, Rex Vaughn; sister, Wilma Roberts; and grandson, Michael Tiger. A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 8, 2012 at 10am Peters Funeral Home Chapel for Betty Sue McPhetridge, age 77 of Bakersfield who passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 in Bakersfield.
