IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty
Mcleod
February 17, 1930 – November 23, 2023
Betty McLeod, age 93, peacefully passed away on November 23, 2023 at her home comforted by her daughter Donna and son Lemuel. Betty was born to Donald & Lydia Graves in 1930 in Paragould, AK, the oldest of six children. In 1934, the Graves family left Arkansas and headed west settling in Shafter, CA.
Betty worked for many years as an accountant and upon retiring, volunteered for several positions at her church, First Southern Baptist in Shafter. She had been a faithful member since 1940 and taught Adult Sunday School for 50 years. Her dedication to her faith did not stop at church as she generously supported local needy families at Christmas for many years. She was a serious prayer warrior and a committed bible student, reading through her bible each year.
Betty's children and grandchildren were blessed by her commitment to motherhood and the care and love she showered on them through the years. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt to her large extended family. She hosted a wonderful reunion where family gathered at her home each Thanksgiving for precious fellowship and a delicious potluck. She will be dearly missed by her children, Mike and wife Mellonie, Donna and Lemuel. Her grandchildren will cherish memories of their trips to Disneyland, trips to Ben's ranch for a full cowboy experience, as well as weekends at the beach to boogie-board.
Betty is preceded by her beloved husband, Benny in 2019 whom she was married 70 years, as well as parents Donald & Lydia Graves, brothers Bill, Chuck and Jack.
She is lovingly survived by her children Mike and wife Mellonie, Donna, Lemuel, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, brother Marvin Graves, sister Linda Gravelle along with beloved nieces and nephews.
