Betty Lou, "Bet" was born in Bixby County Oklahoma to Preston and Mable Shahan. Her family traveled to the Central Valley of California when she was two years old. She attended Tulare Schools and married Lonnie Fry Jr. in 1949. They raised their 5 children in the Hanford-Armona area. Betty worked in domestics as a grocery checker, a house-keeper, a motel maid, a short order cook, and in the Armona Textile Mill. She was a faithful Sunday School Teacher for more than 20 years. Lonnie passed away in 1980 and Betty married George Laboa in 1986. They resided in Farmersville for 21 years. Betty moved to Kern County in 2008 to be close to her children. She is preceded in death by her two oldest sons, Steve and Danny Fry, her sister, Nita Thornton and brother Bill Shahan. She is survived by her sons, James and John Fry of Taft, her daughter, Betina Adams of Bakersfield and her 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She both loved and was loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Private Service were arranged to honor her.
