Betty June Kroeker (Ms. Betty) 81, of Bakersfield, passed away February 29th in her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born on August 17th, 1934, in Tucumcari, NM, on the historic Bell Ranch. As a young child Betty's family moved and settled in Shafter Ca. Betty attended local schools and graduated from Shafter High in 1952. Betty and Kenneth Kroeker went on their first date on New Year's Eve and were married 4 short months later, "when you know, you just know". In 1975 Betty and Kenny bought The Shafter Motel where she managed the daily operations for 20 years. Ms. Betty was the driving force behind the motel and her face was a breath of fresh air to all who walked through the doors. Betty had two sons who were the light of her life. Brian Keith Kroeker (57) and Bruce Dwayne Kroeker (54).They could do no wrong in her eyes. Betty loved her family more than life and spoiled them rotten whenever she got the chance. She enjoyed spending many vacations and made many lasting memories in Pismo Beach where she and Kenny had a home for 40 years. Betty adored her big brother Bill Maupin and looked forward to his visits. Betty was one of a kind. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Betty is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her sons, Brian and significant other Michelle, and Bruce; her grandchildren; Dustin and wife Britney, Ryan and wife Dana, Kris and fiancé Shelby, Travis and wife Amy; great-grandkids; Alec, Kendall, Rylin, Ashlyn, Bella, Lane, Kennedy and Jase; as well as, her brother; Bill. A memorial service will be held at Peters Funeral Home (Shafter) on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 10am.
