Betty Romero Gutierrez was born September 14, 1934 to Lorenzo and Margarita (Acuna) Romero in Brawley, California. Betty's family moved to Lamont while she was still in high school and she graduated from Arvin High School and went on to attend Bakersfield College. Betty married Joe Gutierrez in September of 1953 and they made Lamont their home. Betty served her family as a homemaker raising 6 children. Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joe Gutierrez; sons, Robert, David, Charlie, George and Ruben; daughter, Gina; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service under the direction of Arvin Funeral Home was held Tuesday, April 28, at 11am at Harmony Baptist Church for Betty Romero Gutierrez age 74, of Lamont, who passed away April 24 at her home in Lamont surrounded by her family. Bro. Eddie Garza officiated the service and interment followed at South Kern Cemetery, Arvin.
