Betty Joyce Griffin was born in Candian, Oklahoma, on September 28, 1932, to Molly Caroline (Hankins) and RD Webster, one of seven siblings. She followed her parents to Arvin, California, at the age of 12, attending the local schools. She met and married her true sweetheart, "Little Bill" and together they had and raised four (4) boys; She and Bill were married 34 years. She had generous spirit, a loving heart and much talent; Betty crocheted hats, afghans, blankets, doilies, and many other items; she also had a talent for creating beautiful ceramics. She and son Kevin took many trips to Las Vegas and Eagle Mountain Casino, as she had much fun and enjoyed gambling and playing Bingo, she challenged anyone to bingo whether in person or on-line. Betty's family looked forward to her fried chicken dinners "no one fried chicken like Betty", however she also looked forward to going out to Mexican or Chinese restaurants. In her quiet times she had a book in her hand, avidly reading love stories. Betty Joyce Griffin is preceded in death by her dear husband of 34 years "Little Bill' (1989), son David RD (1995), brother Calvin Kermit Turner (1993), sister Linda Turner (1959) and survived by her sons Lester Joseph Griffin (Teri), Bobby Joe Griffin (Charm), Kevin Leroy Griffin (Roxanna); brothers Billy and Clayton Webster; sisters Shirley Nester and Billie Sue Francis; 9 beautiful grandchildren and 9 wonderful great-grandchildren; numerous extended family members, many friends, acquaintances and by her long time 4-legged companion, Honey. Reverend Bobby McCuan of Calvary Gospel Tabernacle will officiate a Graveside Service on Monday, November 22, 2010 – 1pm at South Kern Cemetery District for Betty Joyce Griffin, age 78, of Bakersfield. Visitation will be Sunday, November 21st from 2 to 8pm at Arvin Funeral Home.
