Betty (Long) Gloeckler, age 85, was born to Sherman and Elsie Long, in Fredericks, Oklahoma on September 22, 1926. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday November 13, 2011 in Shafter. Betty was married to James (Jim) Gloeckler of Shafter for 66 years. Betty now rests in the Love of her Savior. Their children include Barbara Higgins of Bakersfield, Beverly (Jim) Lewis of Tempe, Arizona and Susan Gloeckler of Camarillo. The love of her life includes her grandchildren, Brent (Melissa) Smith of Gilbert, Arizona and Michael (Angela) Gloeckler of Nipomo, Brandie (Damien) Hagaman of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Christy (Ryan) Robinett of College Station, Texas. Great-grandchildren include Cadence and Chloe Smith and Harper Hagaman. Betty was preceded in death by her son, Harold Robert (Bob) Gloeckler in 2005. Betty's giving heart was the strength of their family. She always provided a servant's heart for all that had needs. Betty was known for cooking wonderful meals, sewing and always serving others in her church and the community. A graveside service will be held Thursday November 17 at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park followed a memorial service at 11am at Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church. A visitation will be held on Wednesday November 16, 2011 from 4-7pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
