Betty Jo Hankins Gallagher entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2023, with her loving son, Ray, at her side. Betty Jo was born on July 8, 1937, In Wasco, California to Luther H. and Florence E. Hancock Hankins. She was the middle child in a family of 2 boys and 4 girl. Growing up on a farm, Betty would work in the fields with her family after school. She was a tomboy and loved playing sports. Betty was outgoing and easily made friends.

Betty Jo was raised in Wasco, Ca and graduated from Wasco High in 1956. She met her future husband, Luther Doyle Gallagher, a Shafter boy, while out with friends. It was love at first sight, and they became absolutely inseparable. Betty married the love of her life, Doyle, on Christmas Eve 1956, and went to lunch at Sinaloa's with both their Moms afterwards. Their only child, a son, Luther Ray, was born on January 11, 1958. Betty and Doyle remained married until Doyle's passing in November 2020, just shy of their 64th wedding anniversary. Betty mourned Doyle's passing until the Lord called her home.

Betty Jo has had numerous jobs throughout the years, but her favorite was being a homemaker, wife, and mother to Doyle and Ray. She loved cooking, baking, entertaining family and friends, and had a special place in her heart for animals. Betty enjoyed tackling challenging new recipes, gardening and yard work with Doyle, and traveling. She was loving, nurturing, forgiving, caring, and never held a grudge. Betty's passion was to make special gifts for the children of family and friends. She was a Christian and attended church regularly until she got sick. Betty loved reading her Bible and saved important memorabilia, notes, and scripture inside her numerous Bibles.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Doyle; her parents, Luther and Florence Hankins; sisters Billi and Joyce; brothers, Eugene and Leon; nephew, Rock Brock; father-in-law and mother-in-law Martin and Carrie Perkins Gallagher; sister-in laws Claudine, Darlene, and Glenda; and brothers-in-law Jerry and Woody

Those left to celebrate her life and honor her memory are her devoted son, Ray; sister, Nancy; niece, Tracy (Mike); sisters-in-law Marie (Mike), Soundra, Barbara (Peter); and brother-in-law Dale (Linda); numerous nieces and nephews, as well as extended family, church family, and dear friends.
