Obituary

Betty Lou went to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday morning, 11/18/07, after living a joyous and healthy eighty-six years. Born November 14, 1921 to Lemuel and Louisa Mussetter in De Smet, South Dakota, she moved with her family to Wasco in 1935 where her father found gainful employment building homes in the Wasco area. She graduated from Wasco High School in 1939 and attended Bakersfield Junior College for two years, before her marriage in 1941. She and her husband, Bernis, had just celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary October 18. Betty Lou was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Wasco, being church secretary, serving in the choir and Ladies' Circle meetings, and preparing and serving meals for the men and numerous other church functions. She had a sweet, quiet, but active trust in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Betty Lou was a supportive wife to her husband in their Ellis Repair Shop tractor and auto repair business over 40 years. She loved to "go out" to eat and enjoyed chocolate; her divinity was divine; she thoroughly looked forward to activities of "the Gang" and family camping trips; was thoughtful to remember anniversaries and birthdays of family and friends; and, in her last years, was always grateful for the care she received and woke with a smile on her face! Betty Lou had a caring heart for others. She enjoyed twenty-six years in her later life caring for long-time family friends Matilda Smith and Raymond Squire. Betty Lou was predeceased by her two older brothers, Lemuel and Eugene. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bernis; two sons, Bill and wife Kathy, and Bob; grandson, David and wife Dawnelle; granddaughters, Karen and Stephanie; and great grandchildren, Melanie, Katie, Gracie and Isaac. Our family gratefully thanks Candy and Kathy for their tireless, care-giving help and kind attention to our parents' needs during these past years. You are invited to visitation Wednesday at Peters Funeral home in Wasco from 2-8pm and the memorial service Friday at 11am at the United Methodist Church in Wasco.
