IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bette Marie
Williams
November 15, 1940 – September 12, 2025
Bette Marie Williams (Woolley), age 84, passed away on September 12, 2025, at her home in Murrieta, California.
Bette was raised in Wasco, California with her twin brother, Robert. Bette graduated from Wasco Union High School. Bette was beauty pageant contestant who won the title of both Miss Wasco, and first runner-up Miss Kern County in 1958. Bette then attained an Associate Degree at Bakersfield College. From there she achieved her dream job of becoming a flight attendant. She was hired by Trans World Airlines and was able to travel the world during the glory days of commercial aviation.
Bette married Lawson Williams Jr, also a pilot for TWA, and settled in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Bette soon retired from TWA to raise a family. Bette later spent several decades working as a secretary for the local school district before retiring.
Bette had a love of America, aviation, travel, and animals. In her life, she was able to experience some of the greatest achievements the world has seen such as spaceflight and Moon landings. Her love of animals was lifelong, and she was rarely without a pet. For a decade after retirement, she participated as a spotter conducting official counts of migrating whales as they passed by the Pt. Vicente Lighthouse in Rancho Palos Verdes. Bette spent her final years in Murrieta, California where she continued to live independently until her passing.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Herb Wooley and Ruth Woolley (Steinberg), and her twin brother, Robert Woolley. Bette is survived by her son, Daryl Williams, his wife, Stacey, and many, many extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, Bette had requested donations be made to any animal, nature, or humanitarian charity of your choosing, as you are able.
