Obituary

Bertha Marquez passed away April 7, 2011 just days shy of her 63rd birthday. She was born on April 10, 1948 in Jalisco Mexico to Antonio Marquez + and Consuelo Romo. At a very young age, Bertha moved to Los Aldamas, Nuevo Leon with her family. In 1975 she relocated to Wasco, California to join her parents and several siblings. Bertha was one of two girls surrounded by eight brothers. She was always involved in helping with household chores and in the raising of her brothers. Her parents' house soon became her home, as she always made sure people came over and had some good traditional Mexican food. There was never a time when she cooked and didn't have a batch of warm, home-made flour tortillas to enjoy. Everybody that visited was aware of her special recipe for her famous macaroni salad & punch. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing and playing loteria with several family members every afternoon. Those who where close to her, always knew to expect a pair of slippers and/or a scarf when the weather got cold. Another thing she can be remembered for were her famous renowned phrases…..those who knew her well can still recall her high pitch voice every time she expressed herself. Her unique ways and expressions are what made our Tia Bertha special. She had a personality and sense of humor like no other. Only she had the ability to always look for the bright side of any situation. She will be greatly missed by all her close family and friends. She leaves behind 26 nieces and nephews, 43 Great nieces and nephews & 1 Great, great niece She was preceded in death by her father Antonio Marquez, younger brother Alberto Marquez and one nephew Cesar Marquez. She is survived by her brothers Juan Ramon (Elva) Marquez, Liborio Marquez (San Juana) Marquez, Alfredo Marquez, Jose Luis (Margarita) Marquez, Hector (Ofelia) Marquez, David (Elfida) Marquez, Antonio Marquez Jr, and one sister Consuelo (Angel) Barrera.
