Benny M. Clary, 79, died Feb. 15, 2009, in Palm Springs. Born April 16, 1929, in San Diego, Mr. Clary worked in construction and raised his family in Redondo Beach. He moved to Yucca Valley in 1980 and loved living in the desert area. He loved his church, Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel. Mr. Clary was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, in 1994. He is survived by sister Lucille Rowley of Sun City, sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Roger Blauvelt of Palm Desert, brother and sister-in-law Al and JoAnn Clary of Long Beach, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Dorothy Clary of Banning, children Cathy McCullah of Oregon, Karen and husband Marv Crow of Wichita, Kansas, Janice and husband John Horst of Medford, Ore., Dan and wife Heidi Clary of Palm Springs and John and wife Stacey of Rancho Santa Margarita, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 21 in Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel located at 57373 Joshua Lane in Yucca Valley. A viewing will precede the services, from noon to 2 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Joshua Springs church, school or Bible college.
