Benigno Diaz was born February 13, 1927 to Aron and Emilia (Martinez) Diaz in Guanajuato, Mexico. Known as "Don Benny" to his family and friends. Benny married Minerva Leon in Mexico and they have been residents of Wasco since 1960. Benny was self-employed as a farmer for over 45 years in the Wasco area. Benny is survived by his wife, Minerva; son, Benny Diaz, Jr. of Wasco; daughters, Adriana Diaz of Bakersfield, Yesenia Diaz and Annabel Diaz, both of Wasco; brother, Guadalupe Diaz; 5 grandchildren, Zachary and Emilia Huerta, Carlos Jr. Valdez, Isabel and Benny Diaz; and many other loving family members and friends. Benny was preceded in death by is daughter, Isabel Diaz in 1995, parents and 10 brothers and sisters. An evening service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Thursday, April 2, at 6pm for Benigno Martinez Diaz, age 82, of Wasco who passed away March 30, 2009 in Delano. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 3, at 10am at the church followed by interment at Wasco Memorial Park at 10:30am. Pastor Jose Luque will officiate the services. A visitation will be held for Benny at the church on Thursday, April 2 from 2pm until 8pm.
