Benjamin Lee Maddock June 27, 1934 – July 9, 2021 Ben Maddock was born on June 27, 1934 in Tulare, California. He grew up working on his family's citrus farm in Woodlake. He graduated from Woodlake High School in 1953. Ben joined the Marine Corps in 1956.He joined the United Farm Workers in 1969, where he organized and negotiated contracts for the union. A few years after he joined the UFW he met Maria Zuniga. They were married on September 8, 1973. Ben left the UFW after 22 years; he was then hired as a field representative for the California School Employees Association. He retired from CSEA after 15 years. After his retirement, Ben and Maria moved to Wasco to be surrounded by lots of family. Ben was known for his love of Christmas lights, playing board games and card games with nieces and nephews, bird watching, gardening, and watching the Dodgers on tv. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norris and Bertha Maddock, and his sisters Dorothy, Francis, and Alice. He is survived by his wife, Maria Maddock, his brother and sister-n-law Earl and Darlene, and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6-8pm at Peter's Funeral Home in Wasco. The funeral will be Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Wasco beginning at 9am. The burial will follow immediately after at the Wasco Cemetery.
