January 29, 1921 – July 14, 2009
Belen Calderon was born in Traquillo, Durango Mexico. Belen was the oldest of nine children. She grew up in Bakersfield, CA where she married her husband and life love Lupe Calderon. She worked for Sam Woo Cleaners for 30 years. Belen loved being a mother and worked hard raising her three sons. Belen was an outstanding cook and loved to cook for her family and friends. Belen loved to dance and loved spending time with her family. Belen had a huge heart and helped those who were less fortunate than herself. She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, sister, and grandmother. Belen was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Lupe Flores; and her sister, Lupita O'Hara. She is survived by her sons, John, Frank, and Ernie Calderon; also, her loving sisters, brother, and many grandchildren. The family would like to thank Susie and the staff of Optimal Hospice, also Susan, Uly, Lillian, and Rene for all their love and care. Visitation is Sunday, July 19th, from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary from 7-8 p.m., in the Hopson-Anspach Chapel, 620 Oregon Street. A Mass will be held on Monday, July 20th, 9:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
