A chapel service will be conducted at Peters Funeral Home, in Shafter, for Barbara Jean Smith on Friday, September 15, 2006, at 2pm. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, from 2-8pm and Friday, September 15, from 9am-2pm. Barbara was born July 27, 1932 in Los Angeles, Ca. to Donald and Elsie Holloway. After marrying her husband, Ray, the couple moved to the Central Valley in the late 60's. A long-time resident of Shafter, Barbara was a devoted wife and mother who spent her days creating a happy home for her family. Later in life, Barbara became interested in antiques and collectibles. Before long, her new hobby turned into a business venture. Barbara opened her first antique store, "Smith's on Munzer" in Shafter, in the early 90's. Soon outgrowing this space, she opened "Good Brothers Antiques" in Wasco, a business that she ran for many years. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Elsie; sister, Dona Stark. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Ray Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Suzette and Jeff Morgan and grandchildren, Spencer and Tyler Morgan; daughter, Jacque Tunturi and grandchildren, Jessica and Casey Tunturi.
